It can happen that there are parents who think that the schools are exclusively responsible for being able to educate the children and that they learn the necessary knowledge to be able to develop and become an effective and successful adult. Children spend a lot of their days in school; they are almost all day in schools. Society has been composed in this way, parents go to work every morning and children have to go to school to learn what is necessary in our society.
Sometimes parents work more hours or at different times than school and can barely see their children during the day, but this does not exempt them from their responsibilities as parents that goes beyond dressing, feeding and sheltering children. Parents should be mentors, guides, emotional support and those who teach the little ones about emotions and feelings… this is not learned in school.

I do not pretend to bore you about what role the school has in your child’s life, because if your children go to school he must already know. But I want to tell you what role does not play. Simply an educational center is composed of professionals who will ensure that your child learns necessary knowledge about our society.
In this way you can develop some forms of learning and study necessary to learn basic knowledge. There are teachers who do take care that children learn values, ethics and even emotional intelligence… but if all this is not reinforced at home, everything will be between the four walls of a classroom. Schools teach, but do not educate, education is done at home.
The role of parents in school
The role of parents in the life of a child should be based on respect, love, affection, opportunities, emotional support and above all to teach children who are able to get what they want and need.
But for this to be the case, parents must show children that they care about everything that happens 24 hours a day, and that of course has to do with school.
Parents should participate in the school, in the activities, maintain a positive contact with the professionals of the center, speak well of them in front of the child, follow up on their activities and notes, talk monthly with the teachers, etc.
The improvement of communication processes between parents and teachers is probably one of the greatest needs that our educational system has.
From all areas we agree on the need for this communication, the benefits it brings to the students, teachers and parents. The parents, through participation, get involved with the teachers, discover that they are important in the education of their children; they can feel more comfortable communicating with teachers, discover how their children’s school works and, finally, parents acquire skills that help them to take advantage of tutoring with teachers.
By involving parents, it is possible for teachers to gain a greater understanding of the difficulties that prevent parents from getting involved in their children’s education and, from this understanding, they learn strategies on how to reach all parents effectively, such as active listening, understanding of defensive behaviors and conflict resolution.
The teachers feel less isolated and centers are encouraged to develop activities that promote varied forms of parental involvement.
The children/students discover the shared interest expressed by teachers and parents. The children/students do not use the information they transmit to their parents and teachers in a biased way.
Positive results of parental involvement
Parent involvement in school will lead to positive results of the students. Improve evaluations, improve attendance and behavior. It’s never too late to get involved in your child’s education, and I do not mean just in school.
The more you work with your child’s academic and emotional learning activities at home, the more likely children will develop a good attitude to learning and good self-esteem through the achievement and learning of mistakes (which should always be welcomed as learning opportunities).
Collaborative work between parents, teachers and students
Collaborative work has to do with the connection that must exist between parents-school-child. That is, both parents, teachers and the school must be in constant and fluid communication for the good of children and for their proper academic development.
While it is true that academic development is important for our society, it is absolutely necessary for children to have a good emotional development, without it, it will be impossible for children to feel capable. With collaborative work the child will see the importance of their effort and how teachers and parents look after their well-being.
